“Leverage your strengths and ideas at Paidy”
What is your current role?
I am a Data Scientist in the Fraud Analytics, Collections, and Governance team, Risk & Analytics division. I am mainly taking care of market analytics, collaborating with our Marketing team, as well as analytics to improve the collection rate, with our Product and Operation teams.
I am one of the initial members of the Risk & Analytics division. There were only 3 members when I joined Paidy in 2018 and the team has been expanded aligning with the company’s growth. We have around 20 members now and each member is taking unique roles leveraging their strengths. For example, one of the characteristic initiatives in our team is “Work Group,” which is a concept different from division/team to tackle various issues and themes in the form of projects across division/team. There are more than 10 groups working actively at the moment. The groups are usually organized from a member raising his/her hand and creating a prototype, followed by other members who have expertise in the solution across teams. Our team members can proactively leverage their strengths and ideas through this initiative, I believe, which is symbolic of Paidy’s culture.
What has been the most fulfilling work for you so far?
My most fulfilling work so far has been a marketing analytics project in which I could leverage my past experiences in an advertising agency. I was engaged only in risk analytics before, but I found room to improve our marketing analytics and came up with a project involving members in related teams. I led efforts to further develop effectiveness measurement of sales promotions, A/B testing, and so on. These initiatives have been even accelerated after the CMO joined this year. Through this experience, I gained confidence that I can leverage my strengths at Paidy.
On what point(s) are you usually focused, in your work?
The first is the sense of speed. It was a positive gap but the decisions are made at a rapid speed in Paidy, which was more than I expected before joining Paidy. Delivering outcomes as soon as possible is, I believe, essential to move the project steps forward here since many members are involved concurrently.
The second is considering things from a high perspective. As our organization is relatively small, we cannot clarify what to do next unless we consider the management's perspective, such as that of our CEO. When I get stuck on my tasks, I always try to be mindful of this in order to remove trifling details from my mind and to move things forward.
The third is to have a mid-long term viewpoint. I basically like to focus on single tasks pursuing good quality, but this style might not be always necessary for Paidy to succeed in the long run. It is important to imagine the future state of the assigned area and take the fastest steps to reach it. I would be happy if I am acknowledged in the future as one of the members who significantly contributed to the growth of Paidy.
Please give a message to those who are considering joining Paidy.
Let's make Paidy known to everyone altogether!
