What is your current role?
I’m a Senior Product Manager in Paidy’s Payments Product division. My role is to help
decide what features to build - making sure they align to our strategy and are useful to our consumers - and to help teams across Paidy to deliver those features. The product managers at Paidy collaborate with all the teams across Paidy—UX & Design, Engineering, Risk, Security, Legal, Marketing, Sales, Operations—to evaluate ideas and prioritize features, with the goal of
delivering the best products to our consumers.
What points attracted you when you decided to join Paidy?
One of the biggest reasons for joining was the product itself. When I first used Paidy, I was impressed with how fast and simple the checkout was - only requiring my email address and phone number. It was unique to all the other payment products in the market. Paidy was also a startup; I really enjoy working in fast-paced environments where there is a lot of growth potential, both for the organization and the employees. Paidy seemed like a really good fit!
What aspects of Paidy’s culture are the most attractive for you?
When I first moved to Japan, I was apprehensive about working in a typically Japanese company, which is traditionally more formal, hierarchical, and rules-based than places I had worked before. On paper, Paidy has a hierarchical structure, but it is actually much flatter in practice. You can approach anyone, even senior management, to discuss ideas and challenges. People at Paidy are very approachable, eager to share ideas, and help each other.
We have a very diverse company with employees from over 30 different countries - the company makes a significant effort to be inclusive and to support cross-cultural events. Prior to COVID19, we regularly had events across different teams and across different cultures, such as indoor soccer, wine evenings, and so on.
What would be your message to those who are considering joining Paidy?
Paidy is a fast-growing company - with many smart, talented people who are passionate about creating a great product! I feel that I’ve grown a lot at Paidy, and that Paidy invests in talent and provides room for people to learn.
Paidy will be a good fit for anyone with a curious personality and an enthusiasm for learning, who likes to work across different cultures with different personalities, and who thrives in a fast-paced environment!
